It only took two years of college for Anthony J. Merced to realize that pre-law, while fiscally responsible, was not the best career course. So in the Fall of 2004, Anthony left behind all the credits he had earned under one major at John Jay College, adding an additional year to his stay at Hunter College, and decided to be a filmmaker.

Anthony grew up in the Bronx, NY literally in the shadow of the old Yankee Stadium. Since the early 90’s weren’t the safest of times, he spent most of his days in the kitchen of a small one bedroom apartment watching movies on the only five channels his tiny television could find. While filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese emerged from the burough to great artistic heights, filmmaking was never encouraged as an artistic outlet. It wasn’t until senior year of high school that all of that changed.

It was under the teachings of a patient Media Arts teacher that Anthony was allowed to make two horrifically bad shorts that will never be shown to the world. The experience scared him into an artistic coma until he managed somehow to erect enough courage to give it a second shot at Hunter College.

Since then, Anthony has worked on major motion pictures, small television shows, and theatrical shows on and off Broadway. Currently he still resides in New York with his amazingly talented girlfriend (she did my website and takes on-set photos).
